PRRS outbreak is under control, says Vietnam

// 08 May 2008

The Vietnamese ministry of agriculture says that the large blue ear disease (PRRS) outbreak is under control.

In May, only two new outbreaks have been registered, compared to massive amounts of outbreaks in the months prior to this month.

The ministry warns, however, that the warm, humid climate may cause new outbreaks. The ministry also asked officials from World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) to contain the disease.

Vietnam imports 1 million doses of vaccine against PRRS from China.
