The German market research bureau ZMP counted that the 27 countries in the
European Union (EU) exported 860,000 tonnes of pork to third countries.
Especially exports to Russia and Japan decreased.
Russia is the EU's
main trade partner. The country imported about 20% less meat in the first six
months of 2007.
In the same period, however,
the EU's exports to Asia and Australia
grew.
