Wisconsin herds negative for pseudorabies
// 09 May 2007
As a consequence, quarantines have been removed on 35 herds tested in
connection with the Loyal site.
This follows last week's announcement
that 33 herds associated with the first infected site, in Greenwood, had also
been cleared.
Both infected herds have been depopulated and will be
cleaned and disinfected by state and federal officials.
Herds
located within 2 miles (3 kilometres) of each site will be retested within 30 to
60 days and, if negative, the original farms may then repopulate.
Pseudorabies is also known as Aujeszky's Disease.
