Russia lifts ban on German meat 30 Jan 2007

Russia has lifted a ban on imports of German poultry and pork, imposed last year to prevent the spread of swine bird flu and classical swine fever (CSF), the agriculture ministry said at the weekend.

In March 2006, Russia banned imports of pigs and pork from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, where an outbreak of CSF had been registered.


In April 2006, Russia partially lifted a ban it had imposed on German poultry, but kept it in place for the region of Saxony.
