NZ calling for animal welfare strategy proposals


New Zealand is calling for proposals to help guide its animal welfare strategy and to amend its Animal Welfare Act. The deadline is 28 September 2012.

The government of New Zealand is calling for proposals, as it intends to change the way its Animal Welfare Act 1999 operates. The proposals will also inform the future direction of the animal welfare system.

New Zealand has a strong animal welfare system that is well-regarded overseas. The government is proposing changes that will build on those good foundations. The proposals are for a strategy to set the direction for the animal welfare system and for changes to the way the Animal Welfare Act 1999 operates.

Any submission can be sent to the Ministry for Primary Industries in Wellington, NZ biosecurity.
