World Pork Expo 2012, in Des Moines, Iowa, has been a memorable one in more than one respect. Visitor numbers were said to be higher than usual – and some new, controversial and challenging themes popped up: sow stalls, a reduction of antimicrobials and how to get to 30 piglets per sow per year?

  • Dr Garth Boyd, together with the National Pork Board (NPB), had an interesting study to share - a new overview of 50 years of efficiency in pork production. It shows pork was produced a lot more efficiently in 2009 when compared to 1959.

    Thank you for present the best show in pig production. I've fallow WPX for at least 25 year. This is the only year I'm not there. Have fun, and keep informed by this site.....
