Denmark bans export of breeding pigs to Russia
Denmark has temporarily suspended exports of breeding pigs to Russia following the death of 37 breeding pigs destined for the Tambov region.
The Danish Veterinary and Food Department informed the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) about this. The Denish service did so after having receivedinformation on three batches of breeding pigs that were exported from Denmark to the Tambov region, Russia. At the border between Byelorussia and Russia, 37 pigs turned out to be dead. As a result, a special investigation on the incident was launched in Russia.
“Veterinary Services of Denmark believes that to provide investigation results, as well as to take necessary measures to prevent similar violations in future, it will take Rosselkhoznadzor 15 days. All shipments of breeding pigs from Denmark have been stopped," says Rosselkhoznadzor.
Russia is currently expecting the results of the investigation.
