South Korea: FMD vaccination certificates mandatory

Farmers dealing with livestock such as pigs who do not have a Foot and Mouth Disease (vaccination) certificates for their animals will not be allowed to do business at livestock markets. The implementation of the new requirement has already taken place.

It has been reported that the livestock market will not see business coming from farmers who cannot produce their livestock vaccination certificates. Also, farmers who do not have the required certificates will not be allowed to transport livestock products to slaughterhouses.

Goats, cattle and pigs are the livestock which will be affected by the new requirement. If farmers are found without the certificates, they could face a fine of up to 5 million won (4,702.34 USD).

The requirement of the certificate was implemented 24 June and has been mandatory as of July.
