Novus International, Inc., a global leader in animal health and nutrition, announced that Thad Simons, President and CEO, received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2010 Bioscience Award in the Central Midwest region.

According to Ernst & Young LLP, the award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses. Mr. Simons was selected by an independent panel of judges and the award was presented at a gala event at the Overland Park Sheraton on June 2, 2010.

Novus International, based in metropolitan St. Louis, is a global leader in creating science-based health and nutrition solutions for the poultry, swine, dairy, beef, aquaculture, companion animal and human markets. “As a visionary with an entrepreneurial spirit, Mr. Simons has a sincere determination to raise the quality of life for people around the world,” stated Ms. Sabrena Hamilton, Vice President, Global Human Resources, Novus International. “Thad is a successful President and CEO whose genuine desire to build a strong organization based on integrity is as inspiring as it is noble”.

Despite economic challenges caused by the global recession, Simons has continued to guide Novus forward, doubling the number of employees from 300 to over 800 globally and achieving sales approaching 1 Billion USD. He has expanded Novus's innovative product portfolio, established new markets and expanded the business into new geographies. “I am humbled and honored to have received this award,” said Simons. “I am fortunate to have an incredibly talented team whose goal is to provide solutions which positively impact people, animals, business productivity and the environment.”

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards celebrate their 24th anniversary this year. The program honors entrepreneurs who have demonstrated exceptionality in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

As a Central Midwest award winner, Mr. Simons is now eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young LLP Entrepreneur Of The Year 2010 national program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California on November 13, 2010.  The awards are the culminating event of the Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum, the nation's most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies.
