French pig sector not happy with prices

The French organisation of pig producers (FNP) has accused French slaughterers and processors of being provocative by not raising prices for pigs.

Pig prices in France are currently around €1.015/kg and are being seen raised in neighbouring countries, the FNP said.

At the pig market Marché du Porc Breton in Britanny, no sign of any improvement could be seen this week. On Monday a rise of 0.1 eurocent was noted.

A couple of pig producers decided to remove their animals from the auction. The FNP accused the processors – and will continue to threat with protests until price improvements can be noted.
