Cargill donates to National Junior Swine Association
Cargill and its quality Showmaster® brand swine feed donated $10,000 to National Junior Swine Association (NJSA) through the sale of a pedigreed crossbred gilt. The sale occurred at auction at the World Pork Expo in Des Moines.
“This generous donation goes a long way toward helping us enhance educational opportunities for youth,” said Jennifer Shike, National Swine Registry director of junior activities. “We’re grateful to have Cargill’s support through its trusted Showmaster brand.”
The gilt was obtained by Cargill from Neb. swine breeder RW Genetics and raised by a farm family near York, Neb. Cargill provided the feed and developed the feeding program for the donated gilt.
National Junior Swine Association, of West Lafayette, Ind., was formally established in 2000 for youth who have an interest in the Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace and Yorkshire breeds of swine. It offers a wide range of competitive educational opportunities designed to foster confidence and leadership skills.
