Betagro offers pork traceability kiosks
The Betagro Group plans to offer a smarter
point-of-purchase electronic traceability system to allow consumers to verify
the quality of the group's pork products, and in addition print cooking tips and
This year, the group has successfully installed 11 ''Spy on Me'' kiosks,
part of the innovative point-of-purchase e-traceability system at supermarkets
under The Mall Group, Emporium and Siam Paragon. First of its
The system, claimed to be the first of its kind in Thailand,
has already been used to check quality of fresh chicken for several years,
according to Betagro Group executive vice-president Nopporn Vayuchote.
At the kiosks, consumers are able to trace pork and chicken products
under Betagro's S-Pure brand back to their origins simply by scanning the
products' barcodes at any kiosks available in Bangkok. BMA
Betagro is also co-operating with the Bangkok
Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to launch a consumer protection programme
through the e-traceability function by allowing consumers to trace back the meat
quality via the BMA website www.vet.bma.com
Besides Betagro, two
other food processors, Charoen Pokphand Foods and the Thai Dairy Farm
Co-operatives, have also joined the BMA on this food-safety promotion campaign.
