NPPC offers programme for swine vets

03-12-2008 | |

The National Pork Producers Council has created a news programme designed to educate swine veterinarians about issues of concern to the US pork industry. The organisation will select 10 to 12 veterinarians each year to participate in the programme.

The programme will focus on how policy is made on the federal level and how to communicate effectively with lawmakers and regulatory officials.

The training will consist of three, 1.5-day sessions held in Washington, D.C. The sessions, which will take place in the spring, summer and fall, will include a look at the political landscape, how the legislative and regulatory processes work, working with lawmakers and their staff and an overview of pork industry issues.

Instructors will include industry experts, swine veterinarians, government officials and key Washington lobbyists.

For more information about the program, contact Jennifer Greiner, DVM, NPPC director of science & technology, at (202) 347-3600, or e-mail her at greinerj@nppc.org.
