More imported pork in Russia in 2009
Russia has increased its 2009 pork quota imports to 531,900 tonnes. The import quota for 2008 was 493,500 tonnes.
The US share of the 2009 pork import quota was increased to 100,000 metric tonnes from 40,300 metric tonnes in 2008. Meanwhile, the ministry said it will raise for one year the import duty for pork imported above the quota level to 75 percent of the contract price, from 60 percent in 2008.
