EuroTier 2008: Chinese-European Pig Summit

21-10-2008 | |

The Chinese-European Pig Summit at this years EuroTier will bring together Chinese and European pig production experts, from conception right through to slaughtering. The event will take place in the EuroTier Convention Centre on 12 November 2008 from 10.30 to 13.30 in room 13/14.

The Chinese-European Pig Summit will bring together international experts working in the pig industry, including representatives from the processing sector as well as breeding companies and feed industry specialists, along with key personnel employed in research, finance and marketing.

Growing consumer awareness
Drastic feed cost increases and disease outbreaks have affected pig meat production and profitability on a global scale, whilst increasing demand for pork and pork products comes with growing consumer awareness about quality, traceability, food safety and animal welfare issues. China is the largest producer of pig meat in the world whilst Europe is the second largest exporter of this commodity.

The Chinese-European Pig Summit will address the current situation and key developments in these two vitally important global pig producing regions in terms of production efficiency and disease control as well as in relation to global trade and marketing issues.

Among the presentations will be a World Bank review of the global pork market, an overview of Chinese pig production and its future from the China Animal Agriculture Association (CAAA) as well as European perspectives provided by Danish Meat Association.

Collaboration
The Chinese-European Pig Summit is hosted by the DLG in collaboration with partner China Animal Agriculture Association (CAAA) and is supported by the European Pig Producers’ Club. DLG is the organiser of EuroTier, the world’s largest exhibition for animal husbandry.

This year around 1700 companies from the sector will present their technologies and innovations to over 120,000 international visitors. The Chinese-European Pig Summit is by personal invitation that provides free admission to the event.
