Outbreak of African Swine Fever in Azerbaijan

The ministry of agriculture in Azerbaijan has reported on Monday an outbreak of ASF in the region of Qebele.

To-date 22 animals have been slaughtered but around 4,750 swine has been declared as 'susceptible' to ASF by the authorities in their report to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The symptoms observed in the animals included temperature rises, anorexia, digestive troubles and bloody faeces.

Fomites are suspected to be the source of the origin of the infection.
