National Pork Board encourages eating together

15-08-2007 | |

The National Pork Board invites US parents to gather around the dinner table in honour of the 12th annual National Eat Dinner Together Week, September 16-22.

During this special week and throughout the year, the National Pork Board is helping America’s families to create family-friendly dinners without spending hours in the kitchen.

As from September 16, through the website www.togetherfordinner.com, more information can be found on e.g. ingredients and how to cook easy and very nice meals using pork. The pork board enlisted two celebrity chefs to share their expertise for this.

Survey
According to a recent ‘Together For Dinner’ survey conducted by the National Pork Board, 88% of families believe it is very or extremely important to eat together (up 10% since 2005), while the top three barriers to making it happen remain the same including conflicting schedules, work schedule and kids’ activities.

That’s why during this hectic season, more than half of Americans (58%) said they spend 30 minutes or less preparing dinner.
