US pork exports decrease in 2007
In the first five months of this year, US pork exports
saw a 3% year-on-year decrease.
In total, US exporters shipped 1.3 billion pounds of pork. Export data from
the US Department of Commerce show that the lower exports can be explained by
the results of two major markets: Mexico and Russia.
exports to other countries grew, for instance Japan (11.5%), South Korea (3.1%)
and Canada (2.5%). These figures, however, could not compensate the loss of
demand in Mexico and Russia.
Exports to Mexico so far in 2007
