False CSF alarm in Slovenia

Laboratory tests on pig samples from a farm in Slovenia have come out negative to Classical Swine Fever (CSF), RTV Slovenia reported earlier this week.

The possible case of the disease was discovered by veterinary authorities near the town of Brezice in the end of last week, located in the country's South East close to the Croatian border.

Testing

The two pigs from the farm were culled and brought to the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana for testing.

The results do not mean a lifting of the protective measures, brought into effect after an outbreak of CSF was reported from nearby Croatia.

Anxious

Slovenia is extremely anxious about the disease as the country has to comply with the European Union's non vaccination policy.

Croatia - not an EU member - has been constantly suffering from CSF outbreaks in the last year.
