Lobby for pork impulse in European Union

15-10-2007 | |

A lobby for a Europe-wide impulse for pork has been continuing for some weeks now in Brussels.

The European Commission has yet to give its answer to proposals by the French agricultural minister, submitted at the end of September. Basically, the French are thinking of exporting restitutions for carcasses and fresh or frozen meat.

Private storage
In addition, a temporaryl measure for private storage is being discussed.

The European farmer’s organisation Copa-Cogeca is in favour of this private storage measure, linked to subsidising exports to third countries.
