Pig Progress presents Pork Production Conference

What do you need to consider when building a new pig farm? Pig Progress will address that question – a very topical one in China – at the Pork Production Conference, a bilingual seminar prior to VIV China in Beijing, on Sunday, September 4, 2016.

‘Designing New Pig Farms’, the subject of the seminar is very topical as China is going through a transition. Increasingly, backyard farming is being replaced by well-organised, large pig farm buildings. With the prices for pigs and pig meat being sky high these days, the interest has increased even further.

Making the right decisions

It is, however, extremely important to make the right decisions before, during and even after the construction of a new pig farm. Where to build it? How to build it? What are do’s and don’ts? Whom to employ? How to train new staff? These are all questions of paramount importance that will determine failure or success on the longer term.

During the 2-hour event, hosted by Pig Progress editor Vincent ter Beek, the following speakers will address the following topics:

• Michael Ellermann, Carthage & MHJ Agritech, China: Management & Training

• Chris Jackson, British Pig Association, UK: Aspects of disease control

• Kim Nielsen, Eurofam/Famsun, China: Climate and housing

The presentations will be held in both English and Chinese.

Place & time
