Water, sun, air, feed and pigs – no element was forgotten when constructing the new Beel family farm pig houses. The mix of novelties should lead to improved production.

  • Until recently, the farrow-to-finish farm had a capacity of 150 sows – but this has been expanded to 480 last year. The farm aims to go for more than 30 piglets/sow/year, and had a large range of novelties included.

  • The farm expanded the existing grow-finisher barn by 28 metres and added one large new sow house. One of the new features in the gestating sow house is the use of Roxell Electronic Sow Feeding stations.

  • A new type of ventilation is also being applied in the farrowing area – here ‘snout ventilation’ is introduced. In this section, the air comes up from below, through the slats of the aisle, to cool the sows’ snouts.
