China opens market to Danish Crown companies

Chinese authorities announced that two Danish Crown companies would be given permission to export processed meat products to China. This week, vice-chairman of Danish Crown’s board of directors Asger Krogsgaard is visiting China together with Karen Hækkerup, Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries of Denmark.

Asger Krogsgaard was therefore also there when, on Tuesday morning, the Chinese authorities announced that two Danish Crown companies would, as the first in the world, be given permission to export processed meat products to China.

The two companies in question are Tulip in Svenstrup and Danish Crown in Faaborg, and Asger Krogsgaard is delighted that Danish Crown’s strong focus on food safety is yet again creating new and unique market opportunities.

“It is an important day for Danish Crown because we have once again shown that we possess special competencies, and I am pleased that the Chinese authorities feel the same after visiting our factories. The next step is to start up the exporting of processed products to China. Also, we are hoping to have several more facilities approved for exports to China in the near future,” says Asger Krogsgaard.
