Kiotechagil, an international supplier of natural feed additives, has launched a new feed additive enzyme range that covers nearly all feeding situations.
The company’s spokesman Mike Rogers introduced the range, called Feedzyme, saying that it offers "a unique, environmentally friendly means of improving the digestion of feed, resulting in healthier animals with improved feed conversion, reduced feed costs and improved litter or dung quality."
The benefits of using enzymes as feed additives include boosting enzyme activity in the immature gut of young animals. By supplementing existing digestive enzymes the enzyme range promotes more complete digestion enabling the incorporation of less digestible feed raw materials, often of cereal origin. This permits the use of raw materials like DDGS in low energy diets, without compromising overall performance.
Through its new range, the company is offering four separate enzymes two of which are thermally stable that achieve better responses in energy limited corn based diets.
Feedzyme: a multi-enzyme complex with high levels of xylanase making it suitable for all rations. Its unique enzyme range helps to improve the digestibility of vegetable proteins whilst beta-glucanase helps reduce the viscosity of gut contents thus improving digestion.Beta-glucanase with phytase. The addition of phytase releases phytate phosphorous and other nutrients such as minerals, amino acids and carbohydrates.
Feedzyme – TS: an intrinsically heat stable product capable of withstanding pelleting temperatures of up to 95ºC giving greater feed biosecurity. The product is an all-purpose enzyme that has an important effect on improving the digestibility of cereals and cereal byproducts. Current biosecurity issues are leading to higher pelleting temperatures and the product caters for this trend as its improved stability can translate into longer shelf life making it particularly suitable for feed storage in warmer climates. The ability to save a post pellet spraying operation removes an important post pellet contamination risk where non sterile ingredients are added after the heat treatment.

Feedzyme – Multi – TS: is a thermally stable version of the previous product.
In addition, the last two products mentioned contain important side chain activities allowing more complete digestion of the complete feed.
"The new thermally stable enzymes achieve their stability as a result of their specific molecular structure which means an immediate response after ingestion unlike the ‘protected’ enzymes that need some ‘release time’ to free them from their lipid coating further down the gut," said Rogers.
"A secondary benefit of the compact molecular structure is that these enzymes are also more pepsin resistant than previous generations of enzymes resulting in higher activity along the gut."
From a quality assurance perspective these new generation enzymes are easier to analyse using a more straightforward and reproducible assay making tracing and confirmation of inclusion more reliable.
